@reolink-fiona Most important question: same crappy gears inside like 5MP E1 or can this one manage to keep a guardpoint?
-
@reolink-fiona camera bought!

@kristof Hi, bro, the E1 Outdoor is a cheap solution to get an affordable and compact PTZ camera with color night vision and auto-tracking. It serves it's purpose.
-
@kristof I have the new E1 Zoom with auto tracking and so far it always returned to the programmed guard point position. I have the previous E1 OD and yes occasionally it deviates from the original guard point position by 10 degrees or more. This is attributed to the non-precision gear mechanism and cannot be compensated by the firmware.

@joseph-chircop_497308027822318 Well Joseph - that is what I said
If the "new" model has better gears.
-
@ginny Sure thing, but PTZ mechanism in this case was more of something to play with but not suitable for serious observation when after any PTZ action the view of the guardpoint changed. So my hope ist that Reolink has learned from the past and (numerous) customer feedback and updated the PTZ mechanism.

@kristof As stated, the E1 AI Zoom has improved gear mechanism and never had to re-calibrate it or reset the guard point. This implies that they learnt from the first generation.

@joseph_chircop GLOBAL MODERATOR @kpb
Until I see a component list with updated materials I'll believe what you say. But seriously I estimate nothing has changed as I can not find it anywhere that it did. So besides a million old E1's unsellable due to the bad ptz mechanism publicity, change the lens to 4k and resell the same crap, I think it's still the very bad plastic gear inside that will eventually give you the misaligned return points after a while. Please proof me wrong with component list comparison. Or let's just wait for someone to open both camera's on YouTube and see for ourselves ? Until then I'll stay away from them.
Kind regards. -
