On my 823a and I think 811a I used to be able to make my own voice announcements. A while back I got a new Android Galaxy 22+. Now I can't find this setting in the Reolink app. I have version 4.35.1.1. Did Reolink drop this feature from all the cameras except for the new doorbell?
@gaël-vanhuynegem_409453155840166 I have four 811a installed, I like them. During the 2021 winter when it got very cold, zero and below, one of them sometimes disconnected during the night and made the same sound as yours. When it warmed up a little during the day I could reconnect it. In the Spring, Summer, Fall it worked fine. Then this winter when it got very cold, it started disconnecting again sometimes making the same noise. I decided to just buy another 811a and replaced the one that had cold disconnections. My other three 811a have worked fine in cold, don't know why one struggled. But freezing temps may not be your problem, it could be disconnecting for another reason. Did you water protect the cable ends when you installed it? The ethernet cable, reset [censored]on and low voltage power option need to be protected from moisture or the cam can short out. In the install guide it says to protect these cable ends from moisture. Some use junction boxes, others silicone tape or put the cables up inside the soffit when possible. If yours is still under warranty you could contact Reolink for replacement, I decided to just keep mine for parts. I've had good performance from my Reolink cams in freezing temps below their specs rating except for the one 811a. My Reolink battery cams keep working in freezing temps but as with any battery they don't charge well below freezing, I bring them in to warm up to charge.
What happened to Reolink planning to release a wifi plug in to control devices like lights? Did you decide not to make it? If so, that is very disappointing!!
@andrewadventure_658285543473233 Do you have mechanical chimes and used the provided wires to bypass them? What's your transformer specs? It may not be powerful enough. Is your wifi signal strong enough?
@kristof Thanks.
I cannot find a Reolink support page that explains the difference between "person and "visitor" detection for the doorbell. How are they different?
hmm, I use the PC Reolink app. Make sure it's the correct firmware for that cam, I download the firmware, put it on the deskto, open firmware folder, move the firmware from folder to desktop, open Reolink app, go to camera settings, system, maintenance, browse, find the firmware on desktop, click it open, click upgrade. You may have to try resetting the camera.
@user_661197039206409_661197039206409 Hard to tell anything with the pic you provided. I have five 811A and they work fine. Is your pic at night without the IR or spotlights on? Is there fog? Are the IR lights bouncing off something reflecting back to the lens causing this? What does it look like without zooming in? I've heard with a few new installs the temp difference between camera and outside can cause water vapor, but it clears up in a day or so, don't know if this is your situation.
@bill_645930933579892 Reolink sells directly to customers, they are not in stores. They are a low cost brand but have good quality cams with good features. Their cost savings comes from selling directly. They don't have a phone support department, just email, to keep costs down. I've had good service from them responding within 24 hrs. unless it's a weekend. Users can use this forum or the Reolink forum on Reddit for help from other users. I'm not sure what you mean by smart home option in the app. Reolink concentrates on cameras, they do not have a full line of products like window sensors, door locks, lights on/off etc. but they are working to expand their product line. There's a couple of YouTube channels I like that review cams, LifeHackster and The Hook Up, watch them, they explain what Reolink cams can do. Reolink also has it's own YouTube channel for info. Another plus is Reolink does not require a monthly subscription like many other brands do. They work with Google and Alexa but I don't know how to set that up, I don't have that.
@phenri01_659436511346703 It's best to install a good quality SDcard in the cam for dual recording. The videos will be uploaded to the cloud but also put on the card. Once in a while a server can go down or be off line for maintenance, if that happens you'll still be able to record on the card. Also, if your router or electricity goes out, a battery cam can still work, record to card until its battery drains. But I don't know what camera you are talking about. Reolink POE cams don't record to the cloud, they record to card, NVR or FTP server.
@justinlacy_660568210911282 Yeah, all POE cam brands I know of have cable ends that need to be protected from moisture, inside wall, up inside soffit, junction box, some use silicone shrink tape, etc. Yes Reolink sells a couple junction boxes that fit some of their cams, a little pricey though. Users have been asking Reolink for a while to provide caps for the cable ends. They've responded by including cap ends with a couple of their new cams. See pic of the coming 81MA that someone posted on Reolink Reddit. I hope they make cap ends as an assessory for their other cams. Some users don't realize how important it is to protect from moisture.
@rainman It helps if you are more specific, what camera are you using? Do you use the phone app, client computer app, NVR? It's just a matter of learning how to use the apps, where the settings are. There's YouTube videos about Reolink cams, Reolink has their own YouTube channel and also a support site with a search line. When you open the phone app, on the bottom is a playback [censored]on. Tap that and it shows the timeline with motion videos. In the computer and NVR is option for live view and playback on the top. Click playback for motion recordings. I don't use NVR, so if you are asking how to access SD cards with the NVR, I don't know about that.
I don't have the doorbell yet, but here's some instructions on Reolink support page that may help. Are you using your existing doorbell transformer? Does it have enough power to run the Reolink doorbell? Check the specs. There's more than one method to connect it and have the wifi chime work. One method uses the included jumper wires to put on an existing chime. Good luck.https://support.reolink.com/hc/en-us/articles/10313334138265-Install-Reolink-Video-Doorbell-to-Existing-Doorbell-Wiring
@pagecoby_217205366841559 Wait for others to respond before doing anything. They may know more than I. I don't use NVR, but I assume it has a password as well as the cams? You could change the password(s) to something simple like 1234, tell the new owner to make his own password when he moves in. I assume you would then delete these cams from your phone and client apps. You might want to write down the UID numbers of the cams before you delete them in case the new owner has a problem, you may want to help them get going if they don't know much about it.
@user_639393541140534_639393541140534 IMO Reolink cams that auto track are good at following people walking, provided the settings are adjusted. I've watched YouTube videos of several camera brands tracking vehicles going like 35 mph. But the cams are mounted on top of buildings or are further away and have a long field of view of the street. In front of a house, where a street is close, say 30 -40 feet from the cam, that is a short field of view of the street going left/right. Cams struggle reacting to fast moving vehicles. By the time a cam detects a vehicle it's already going out of the field of view, the cam can't find it. I think most auto tracking cams are good at tracking vehicles up to about 10 - 15mph when the street is close to the cam. Faster than that and they can fail to track. IMO it's more important to successfully track people rather than vehicles going by which are not a threat to your home.I had a E1 Outdoor. But a really close lightning strike shorted it out. I also have a 823A. It tracks pretty good.
@crimp-on_62210811129 Reolink does not recommend keeping the USB charger installed all the time. It can shorten the battery life and eventually limit it's capacity to keep a charge. The USB charger may not provide enough power to operate 24/7 live view. For 24/7 live view and recording POE wired cams are the best. https://support.reolink.com/hc/en-us/articles/360004082853-How-to-Power-on-Reolink-Battery-powered-Cameras
@user_642029783269413_642029783269413 I don't know when/if Reolink will sell their own bracket. I have a brick house, didn't want to drill into it. I made a L shaped wood bracket to screw into the soffit, installed my 823A to it on the corner of my garage. Others have bought metal corner brackets on Amazon. The holes don't line up but it's not hard to drill holes to fit the 823A. The brand I know of on Amazon is Donolomo medium size corner wall mount for about $26, but you can search for other brackets there. I think the 823A 16x would need a larger bracket. On Reddit Reolink Official Forum a user posted pics of his 823A installed using Donolomo bracket, drilled aligned holes. His pic...
@joseph-chircop_497308027822318 Yeah, you are right. Reolink has a Youtube video about installing the SIM card too, the process is similar after the housing is opened.
@user_641359177510957_641359177510957 Those SD cards are a little tricky getting them to stay in. I use my fingernail or a small flat head screwdriver pushing on top of the card. Cards sometimes need to go in below the housing to click in place, spring loaded. Make sure you insert it in the correct direction. The side edges of cards are a little different to make sure cards are put in right. Reolink has a Youtube channel video showing this.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mu9pBMGYDQg
@al[censored]101_252113777299683 A good alteration to protect the cable ends and hide them from view. I like it. I was able to put my cable ends up inside the soffit, nice and dry.
