@pagecoby_217205366841559 Wait for others to respond before doing anything. They may know more than I. I don't use NVR, but I assume it has a password as well as the cams? You could change the password(s) to something simple like 1234, tell the new owner to make his own password when he moves in. I assume you would then delete these cams from your phone and client apps. You might want to write down the UID numbers of the cams before you delete them in case the new owner has a problem, you may want to help them get going if they don't know much about it.
@user_639393541140534_639393541140534 IMO Reolink cams that auto track are good at following people walking, provided the settings are adjusted. I've watched YouTube videos of several camera brands tracking vehicles going like 35 mph. But the cams are mounted on top of buildings or are further away and have a long field of view of the street. In front of a house, where a street is close, say 30 -40 feet from the cam, that is a short field of view of the street going left/right. Cams struggle reacting to fast moving vehicles. By the time a cam detects a vehicle it's already going out of the field of view, the cam can't find it. I think most auto tracking cams are good at tracking vehicles up to about 10 - 15mph when the street is close to the cam. Faster than that and they can fail to track. IMO it's more important to successfully track people rather than vehicles going by which are not a threat to your home.I had a E1 Outdoor. But a really close lightning strike shorted it out. I also have a 823A. It tracks pretty good.
@crimp-on_62210811129 Reolink does not recommend keeping the USB charger installed all the time. It can shorten the battery life and eventually limit it's capacity to keep a charge. The USB charger may not provide enough power to operate 24/7 live view. For 24/7 live view and recording POE wired cams are the best. https://support.reolink.com/hc/en-us/articles/360004082853-How-to-Power-on-Reolink-Battery-powered-Cameras
@user_642029783269413_642029783269413 I don't know when/if Reolink will sell their own bracket. I have a brick house, didn't want to drill into it. I made a L shaped wood bracket to screw into the soffit, installed my 823A to it on the corner of my garage. Others have bought metal corner brackets on Amazon. The holes don't line up but it's not hard to drill holes to fit the 823A. The brand I know of on Amazon is Donolomo medium size corner wall mount for about $26, but you can search for other brackets there. I think the 823A 16x would need a larger bracket. On Reddit Reolink Official Forum a user posted pics of his 823A installed using Donolomo bracket, drilled aligned holes. His pic...
@joseph-chircop_497308027822318 Yeah, you are right. Reolink has a Youtube video about installing the SIM card too, the process is similar after the housing is opened.
@user_641359177510957_641359177510957 Those SD cards are a little tricky getting them to stay in. I use my fingernail or a small flat head screwdriver pushing on top of the card. Cards sometimes need to go in below the housing to click in place, spring loaded. Make sure you insert it in the correct direction. The side edges of cards are a little different to make sure cards are put in right. Reolink has a Youtube channel video showing this.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mu9pBMGYDQg
@alxr101_252113777299683 A good alteration to protect the cable ends and hide them from view. I like it. I was able to put my cable ends up inside the soffit, nice and dry.
It looks like the Reolink doorbell cam will be a good one at a good price. But as others have pointed out its field of view likely won't show packages below. Maybe in the future a 2nd gen. will. Others have also suggested being able to turn the view 90 degrees in the app, that would be a nice feature, don't know if they'll do it. Turning the cam 90 degrees may work fine. I have a Reolink 811A above my front door pointing down which shows all packages. I can see peoples faces as they're coming to the door but close to the door just the top of their heads. Other brands I'm aware of that can show packages are way more expensive and/or require monthly subscription to work. For the money the Reolink doorbell cam is a great value IMO.
@joseph-chircop_497308027822318 You are correct, some people will be neglectful, won't follow directions, but I've seen enough users having problems with water in cable ends that I believe BOLD letters would help and certainly caps for all the connections would be used by most and avoid some customer frustration. One person hired someone to install a Reolink cam, he didn't protect the cable ends, camera failed after rain, clearly his fault for not paying attention to the installation guide. But the owner trashed Reolink cams, saying they are junk until he learned what happened. IMO bigger WARNING about this would be better than just one line among others on page 7!!!A junction box is not the only method, some drill holes big enough to put the cable ends inside a wall or up inside the soffit. Water resistant caps for the cable ends would be very good for many users, a lot easier to install and cheaper than junction boxes.
On this forum and on Reolink Reddit forum there's posts of people having problems with water/moisture getting into the camera connection ends. About once a month someone posts their cams stopped working because of water on the ethernet cable end, reset button or low voltage power option end. Reolink provides a cover "lid" for the ethernet cable, but nothing for the other ends. On page 7 of the guide is says to protect these ends. But sometimes people don't notice this or ignore it. I recommend in future printings of the guide to put this info in BOLD CAPITAL LETTERS so people will maybe see it better. Reolink should also provide with each cam plastic covers for all the ends to helps solve this problem. The best way to install is put these ends inside a wall, up inside a soffit, use an electrical box. But users often go the easy cheap way and just use tape which can fail in the rain.
@martin-kistell_73972976554167 Reolink often does not update everything all at once, they release them in stages. In their release statement in what's new, item 1, it says for App and Web only, so I assume the NVR update will be coming.
@martin-kistell_73972976554167 Yup, that's it where it will show. What's your phone app version? The new version is 4.34.0.5, they just released it. I downloaded the new 823A firmware to my computer, installed it to the Reolink client, it auto upgraded the phone app. In the phone app I initialized the 823A using the password, naming it etc. Or if you don't use Reolink client on your computer, you can try using the Device info page to upgrade firmware for the 823A but I've found sometimes that doesn't work. If that doesn't work download the whole app new version from Google Play for Android, or go to Apple for iphone.
@robert-leyzerovich_519547077562499 I don't have an NVR. On my Android phone app I touched Detection Alarm...in next window I turned on Auto Tracking...below auto tracking are options which includes the tracking limits for left/right. I also have Windows client app on my computer but I don't see it there yet..version 8.8.2.
@godswarrior_595013489905749 I have a Argus PT, don't have this problem. You could try to reset it or reboot it. You didn't say if this happens all day and all night or just at night. If only at night sometimes it's the cam's IR light being reflected back into the lens, bouncing off a wall, etc., or fog or a dirty lens. If the cam is still under warranty, contact Reolink support, they'll ask you questions if you tried to reset or reboot the cam. They may ask you to send them a photo of the view which you can capture in the app and email them the pic. I assume you know it's password and/or keep it written down because when you restore the cam I think it asks you that, and you'll need to reset the alarm, notification settings, etc. The reset and restore options are in "Advanced" in the app.
@zumaron_617744178155576 Do any battery trail cams and similar battery cellular linked cams do what you want? Maybe the reason is downloading so much data at one time might drain the battery too quickly. For cams at home hooked up to a cloud subscription, I don't know of any brand that lets you download all the cloud videos at once. The brands I know about only let you download one video at a time, I assume this is industry standard. Downloading a lot of videos at one time would put more strain on their servers, imagine thousands of customers doing this all at once.
@user_632157174624286_632157174624286 Each camera's maximum power usage is listed in their specs. You could try Reolink official Reddit site. Several real techy users there. You will need POE+ for the 823A PTZ cams which use more power due to the motor.
@joseph-chircop_497308027822318 I noticed it's okay now. THANKS Reolink for taking care of the quickly!!!
I have android phone S22+. Newest Reolink app version 4.33.0.5. Yesterday I notice with detection alarm settings, the app won't keep what I set. Motion detection set high, smart detection for person, vehicle, pet all set high, press save, close app. But when I open app later, the vehicle motion dropped to zero, the pet detection dropped to zero. The person detection number stays where I set it. Maybe there's a glitch in this newest app version? I tried turning phone off/on but didn't make a difference, vehicle and pet settings still drop to zero even though I set them to higher numbers. This happens to my Duo 2, 823A and my 811As.
@jedi2020_32727772450952 I have a Duo 2. It only has spotlight off, on to a time schedule, on for motion detection, does not have spotlight on for specific movement,
@katshep06_548412444582115 Reolink does not sell transformers. The transformer power needed for the doorbell camera is shown in the specs. If you have electricity at your gate you'll need to buy your own transformer, a waterproof junction box for it and maybe conduit to protect the wires. If your gate is close enough to your house to have a strong enough wifi signal then you'll be able to use/hear the plug in ringer that comes with the doorbell camera, otherwise no. If you do not have electricity at your gate, maybe a battery doorbell camera would be better for you, but they are not as reliable as wired ones.
