How to Avoid Losing Email Alerts from Reolink Cameras for the Gmail Accounts If Google No longer Supports Less Secure Sign-In From May 30th
Many of you may receive an email from Google that you may lose access to Apps that are using less secure sign-in technology on May 30.
"To help keep your account secure, starting May 30, 2022, Google will no longer support the use of third-party apps or devices which ask you to sign in to your Google Account using only your username and password."
Some users may be confused. “Does it mean that I can no longer receive the email alerts using the Gmail from the Reolink devices? Should I change to another email?”
Don’t worry. You can still use Gmail to receive alerts from the Reolink devices. But you need to use the APP password generated by Gmail. Here is the how-to guide.
1. Enable two-step verification in Gmail
The APP password will only be available for the account that enables the two-step verification. You can follow the guide in the Google support center to enable it, https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/185833?hl=en.
2. Generate the App password for Reolink APP
You can have the step-by-step guide in this article,
3. Copy the APP password and input it as the email password in Reolink APP/Client.
Using app passwords is a more secure way, no matter for your mailbox or Reolink device. After you successfully change your email password to the app password, you can still receive email alerts from your Reolink device normally. (If you find the email error in the Reolink APP, you can use the APP password to try.)

Reolinkers’ Week Day 4 – New Firmware: AI Model, FTP, and More
The new firmware has arrived!
1. AI is more accurate. We optimized the AI model and algorithm and added new features like Alarm Delay and Beta Pet Detection.
2. Smart Spotlight can be triggered when the camera detects a person, vehicle, pet, or all.
3. Improved FTP functions.
4. We have Push intervals.
5. Improved Security.
6. RTSP is upgraded.
7. More optimization
Finally! New firmware for AI products is here. We've done the beta test before, and thank you, every bug hunter.
The full changelog is in the following, but I want to say it's highlight first -- AI detection optimization.
We improve AI person/vehicle detection basically through 2 ways -- algorithm itself and new features.
a. We use videos that users reported as false alarms for deep learning to optimize the AI model, which is the fundamental solution.
b. We add "anti-shake" and "identify-regular-frame-changes" features in the algorithm, which can reduce false alarms caused by stationary vehicles.
How they work
We know that the camera locates an object in a box (like the blue frame in the GIF). And AI does not analyze a video but every frame of the video. However, there are tiny changes between consecutive frames in a "seem-to-be-static" video due to sunlight or other reasons.
Accordingly, the box of the car is changing, even though the car doesn't move. Usually, this box changing of the static object is regular. So we can filter out these alarms by "anti-shake" and "identify-regular-changes" features.
2. New features
a. Alarm Delay
Quite a lot of false alarms happen at night or on snowy or rainy days. If snowflakes and raindrops enter the box of the stationary object, resulting in sudden changes and false alarms. To reduce this circumstance, we add the Alarm Delay feature.
How it works
AI may take 20 frames in 1 second to analyze and see how many frames are with the motion. Only when AI detects motions in most of the frames, this motion is considered a true alarm.
For person detection, 1 second;
For vehicle detection, 1-3 seconds.
b. Pet Detection
It’s a beta feature. We still need more inputs to train our algorithm. Please send false alarms to us. The higher resolution, the better. Appreciated!
Other features that can help reduce false alarms:
Sensitivity, Object Size, and Motion Zone. You can combine and finetune them to your situation and achieve the best performance.
At last, about person/vehicle/pet detection, I want to say there is no best AI, but better AI. Even with these optimizations, detecting objects at night, on snowy days, or under spider web is challenging because of reduced frame rate, blurred background. AI requires continuous reinforcement; that is, we need your inputs, trust, and support for us.

3. Optimized FTP function:
-- Supported FTPS encryption to improve the security of FTP transfer files.
-- Added FTP upload file type: Video/Image/Video & Image.
-- Added the ability to overwrite file: Overwrite single picture/ Alternatively overwrite two files.
-- Added the Image/Video interval options: You can custom from 2s to ∞ .
-- Optimize the Directory function: generate subfolder by YYYY-MM-DD (Day) or YYYY-MM (Month) or Close (save all files in the same folder).
4. Added Push interval: 20s/30s/1min/2min.
5. Enhance Security:
-- Added switch for RTSP, ONVIF, HTTP, HTTPS service. Users can turn on and off the corresponding network services as needed.
-- Increased the function of locking the device: The device will be locked for 2 seconds after logging in with an incorrect password to improve login security and prevent malicious attacks.
6. Added the Diagnostic Logs feature: In System-> Maintenance, export diagnostic logs to tech support for analysis.
7. Added the Test error code function for the Email, FTP, push settings, which could help find the cause of the error.
8. Added web certificate import function.
9. Updated RTSP version.
10. Optimized pre-recorded time of videos and solved the problem of too long pre-record time in some scenes.
11. Added Black &White and Color Switching Threshold adjustment function.

New Firmware for Argus 3 Pro: AI Detection Optimization and More

Hi, Argus 3 pro users,
Now we have a new firmware for the Argus 3 Pro (v184.108.40.2069). We optimize the AI detection of the camera. If you would like to upgrade the camera, please write down your camera information in this form, https://bit.ly/3ipv6zA. Please copy the device info directly from your APP.
We will push the new firmware to your App within 2 weeks. (Please remember to enable the auto-upgrade in your APP. Device info>>Upgrade device>>Auto-upgrade) If you don't receive the firmware upgrade push in two weeks, you may fill in the wrong info. Please fill out the form again.
1. Add AI-related Functions
Please find the settings in Settings>>Detection alarm. These new AI functions will help you better filter false alerts.
You can create a zone that you don’t want to receive the alerts from. The zone can be set for person/vehicle/any motions separately. The area is composed of multiple small grids. You can draw in any area. To avoid false alerts within the motion zone, we recommend that you can draw more space for the motion zone. Just as the picture shows.
-- Object Size
This setting is to filter the detection object by size. To set the maximum size and minimum size of the detection object, it can help filter some alerts like the rain/snow/insects.
The default sensitivity value (60) is the recommended value. You can also adjust the value according to your environment.
--Static Filtering Strategy
This can help to reduce false alarms caused by static objects like stationary vehicles.
Our algorithm will analyze the motion by frame. But there are tiny changes between consecutive frames in a "seem-to-be-static" video due to sunlight or other reasons. Accordingly, sometimes the box of the car is changing, even though the car doesn't move. Our algorithm can recognize this kind of situation and filter it out.
2. Add Other Functions:
The Argus 3 pro detects the person/vehicle using the PIR＋AI algorithm. After the PIR detects the motion, our camera needs a short time to decide whether there is a person/vehicle or not. So the alarm may delay in this process.
If you enable the pre-alarm, the camera will have a small sound (smaller than the normal alert sound) before the normal alarm, which can also have a deterrent effect.
If the camera finds that the motion is person/vehicle motions, the siren will be set off. If not, the pre-alarm sounds 3s and done. You can choose to enable it or not according to your need.
