I submitted a report to support about not getting the full 90 degree tilt on my RLC-820a camera. They're aware of the problem. I believe its a hardware/firmware problem that's not going to be fixed. You can get the full 90 degree tilt by manually moving the lens upward and then downward on the camera and that will reset the tilt range to the full 90 degrees.. But after a reboot the camera resets to the smaller range.
@mblaser Thanks. I'm aware of the new firmware with the "Fixed Frame Rate" option and use it on my RLC-810a and RLC-823a cameras. I get similar results to yours. It does helps somewhat, but I prefer the anti-smearing options like what I have on my RLC-511w camera. But the RLC-511w has a 3D-DNR cut filter which helps with the low light conditions where my other cameras don't have it.
I've been downloading many videos daily, mainly without problems. But, I've had four or five occasions where the beta client freezes during the download. When it freezes, the progress bar shows usually shows the download at around 50% completed. The odd thing is that the client has completely finished downloading the video and it is fully viewable. Its just that the client will not start downloading the next video. Its as if during the download that Windows and the client have lost contact with each other.I always need to close the client and start downloading all over.
Can you download the wide angle and telephoto views separately as independent videos or are they always combine together into one video? So, I’m asking if there are different download options.
I asked a surveillance engineering pro.He told me that in his estimation the problem is that the image sensor is too small for 4K. The sensor cannot capture a clear image in 4K at all due to its small size.
That better not be true since Reolink's stated spec is for 3840X2160 (8.0 Megapixels) at 25 frames/sec. I bought a RLC-820a camera that's going to be delivered this weekend.
I agree, something seems wrong. I wonder how Reolink’s software (app, client) handles h265 video and making a snapshot from it. I’m sure there’s potential problems on which computer/browser/phones Reolink’s software is running on and how it handles h265 video. It could be a problem on the hardware’s side where the Reolink’s software is running on. I’m not sure what the problem could be if you’re taking your image from the highest resolution video from the camera and making sure there’s no resolution loss.
@mblaser “Mblaser”, thanks for the link to your great Reddit review. Your videos and details were awesome. Your review will definitely be use on any decision I make on buying one of these new cameras. Link is bookmarked! Thanks for your “6x hybrid zoom” explanation and the specifications for the two lenses.
Here are what I was given for the specs of each lens:Wide angle: 3840x2160 (8MP) @ 25fps. f=2,8mm, F=1.6 Angle H 104°V 60°Telephoto: 1920x1080 (2MP) @ 20fps. f=8mm, F=1.6 Angle H 38°V 21°
Nice to see the telephoto at 20 fps, but I’m guessing it drops down into the 10-12 fps. under low light conditions like the other Reolink cameras. Ghosting/smearing of moving object is a problem with Reolink cameras and agree, that Reolink should bring back the old ghosting/smearing image controls. They’ve been including spotlights on the newer cameras and forget about the people who want to track animals that enter their yards and can’t use those lights in fear of spooking the critters. I liked your deer and squirrel videos, very helpful because I use my cameras mainly to capture the night time critters. Thanks for the different “Tracking method” videos! That’s the first I've heard about about those options! The telephoto auto tracking is far better than I expected and is quick to focus and doesn’t seem to blur (unlike my RLC-R823a camera). Although the telephoto zoom doesn’t seem as tight during nigh time to me. Looks like it will be a great camera and hope Reolink keeps refining the firmware to make it even better before it hits the public for purchase.Great review, very informative and helpful!John
@reolink-fiona Update on deleting Time Lapse Videos:I just got done making a time lapse video on my Argus 2 camera and was able to delete it. So the deletion works as it should for my Argus 2 camera and removes the video from the SD card, but not for my other three cameras listed above.Argus 2 Firmware: 0129_704_572_48
@philippe Your night time video was awesome, Thanks! I love the way tracking follows your dog and the smaller view has the whole view. Looks like it will be a nice camera. It looks like you have pretty good lighting for your back yard. One of the problems I have with cameras and night time videos are smearing and ghosting of moving objects and also noise in the video where there is poor lightning. I wonder if your camera would have the same problems if all of your backyard lighting was turned off and the camera was only using its infra red.Again, I appreciate your making the video. Thanks!John
@reolink-fiona Thanks for the heads up. Camera infor deleted from the post.
@reolink-fiona I've tried three different cameras and none of them will delete the time lapse video from the SD card. It happens every time. I'm using the latest Windows 10 version. The three cameras that I tried are my RLC-823a, RLC-810a and Argus PT 2k cameras.Cameras & Firmware:RLC-810A - v3.1.0.956_22041503RLC-823A - v3.1.0.956_22041511_v1.0.0.30Argus PT - v3.0.0.875_22030800
Deleting a completed time lapse video on the Window Client:On the Time Lapse window, the deletion of a completed video will remove it from the window, but it does not delete it off the SD card. If you close the Time Lapse window and reopen it again the video shows up and is still there. Is there a way to delete a time lapse video off the SD card.
Not getting thumbnails on my RLC-823a camera for the preset points, patrol points.
Thanks for the great review and sharing your videos and pictures. Very helpful to see actual real life usage of the duel view. Could you make a night time duel view? I mainly use my cameras for nighttime critters that enter my yard and would like to see a nighttime video of a dual zoom with regular view.https://reolink.com/us/product/reolink-trackmix-poe/#specificationsDo you know what is meant by "6X hybrid zoom". Not sure what that means, is it a mixture of optical and digital zoom capabilities?
@email_525317533946102 I agree they should come back online without problems.Try giving your WIFI cameras a static IP address in your router. After a power outage the router’s DHCP server may give out different IPs for your cameras other than the one it was setup with and becomes confused. My camera’s come back just fine after a power outage, but I give each of my network devices their own static IP address, so they never change. Some of the POE cameras have an option to setup a static IP address under the Network/Advance setup option, but the WIFI cameras do not have this option.
I have four Argus 2, a RLC-511w, RLC-823a and a RLC-810a cameras that required me to change to Gmail's two step verification and get a App password for the Reolink stuff. And I get no spam messages from my ISP.This worked for me when I switched over last May.https://support.reolink.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039461654-How-to-Generate-an-APP-Password-in-Gmail-Email-AccountADDED EDIT:I should also add that I use Thunderbird as my Email client and I had to generate a Gmail two step verification App password for it to connect to my four Gmail accounts.
@reolink-fiona Support pushed the latest firmware v3.0.0.875_22030800 for my Argus PT 2k camera.
I agree with everything you said, well stated.RLC-823A Camera: I would also like to add that I’m not sure how to use the Privacy Mask and Detection Zone settings with a PTZ camera. They seem to apply to everything, Guard point, presets, and patrol mode. Once they are setup for a certain view, they become useless and need to change anytime you switch to use a different view (like a different Preset). Maybe they should only be applied to the Guard point, or have setups for each preset. And I agree, it is a nice camera and I hope they’re able to fine tune the firmware more.
Does anyone know what the latest firmware is for the Argus PT (2k)?My current firmware is: v3.0.0.669_21111905
@reolink-fiona Done! RMA already issued.
