Hi RLC-823A & RLC-523WA users,Thank you for giving us feedback on the last beta test. Now we have resolved the night mode issue and optimized the auto-tracking feature in this firmware. Download the new firmware via https://bit.ly/3dfOzDx. (Please check the "reset configuration" when upgrading the camera.)Come on! Bug hunters!Improvement:1. Solved the issue that the image got purple after switching between day and night modes2. Solved the issue that the IR didn't work after switching between day and night modes.3. Optimized auto-tracking.About the new tracking strategy:We mainly changed the auto-tracking strategy in this firmware from center-originated to edge-originated tracking. When the target doesn't reach the edges of the screen, the camera will still track the target without PT(the target is not in the center). When the target reaches the edge of the screen, the camera will PT and continue tracking the moving target.Tracking Strategy Details:1. Pan&Tilt will be triggered only when the target is close to the screen's upper, lower, left, and right edges.2. Monitor Point feature:--If enabled, the camera will return to the monitor point 10 seconds after the target is lost during tracking.--If not enabled, 10 seconds after the target is lost during tracking camera will return to the last saved position.3. When the target is in the still screen and no tracking is triggered. After 20 seconds, it will return to the monitor point if the monitor point function is on; if not, it will return to the last saved position.4. If the target is moving in the frame, but no Pan&Tilt is triggered, the camera stays in its current position. (It's still tracking, but the target doesn't need to be centered)5. If the settings of the PTZ and Focus are manually changed, the auto-tracking will be recovered after 15s.6. If the configuration of the Flip, Mirroring, and Auto-Tracking is changed while the camera is auto-tracking, the camera will return to the monitor point if the monitor point is on. If the monitor point is not enabled, the camera will return to the last saved position.
Installed early this morning and I'm very happy with the changes made to auto tracking. My camera overlooks a road, and the old firmware would often lose track of the faster cars. This firmware looks like it is almost measuring the speed of the objects now, and even though it waits until the object is near the edge, it seems to snap over faster to where it thinks the car will be to keep it in frame. Much improved on that front so thanks! A few more points:
Nice job, and thanks again!Tony
IR fixed - Tracking for cars seems to not be working. Tracking people works - no more notifications for cars, changed settings around for sensitivity and doesn't work.
Hi,I installed the Beta firmware for the RLC-823A but forgot the "Reset configuration" switch to set as mentioned. How can I get this activated as an afterthought ?Note: The camera does not autotrack anymore....
The new tracking method is working well and is much improved over the existing method. I’m really liking the changes made. Found some anomalies that may need some tweaking. Seems like different object sizes and zoom levels can affect tracking and may need some checking. You can view video examples of the problems and screen shots of the tracking options used here in a folder in my dropbox …. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/pax0vv7h0eadjjog26480/h?dl=0&rlkey=9thn1vow9vcg5vhoa55kadz93 Example 1:· Tracking lost on bus moving out of left most view.· Not able to keep up with a fast-moving van. Example2:· Tracking lost on garbage truck moving out of left most view. Example3:· Not able to track a guy riding a bike with dog. Too fast of movement. Example 4:· Tracks and follows a fast-moving car correctly, but then misses tracking a kid on his bike that comes into viewing frame. Example 5:· Misses a fast-moving motorcycle. Example 6:· Misses tracking a guy walking his dog Example 7:· Tracking of car lost because of IR glare after first frame adjustment. (I Know being picky ... camera placement problem) Example 8:· Not able to track truck with lights on during rain. Example 9:· Losing right most tracking of car with lights on during rain. Example 10:· Not able to track neighbor’s car pulling out of his driveway.
I upgraded one of my RLC-823A cameras this beta few days ago. Tracking is better (though I can still walk slowly past the camera and it loses track of me about half way). More importantly, after the configuration reset (as suggested) during the upgrade:
I've reverted back to v3.1.0.956_22041511_v1.0.0.30 (with a configuration reset) but the SD card still showed as missing. Rebooted a number of times through the camera's interface with no change. I did manage to get the SD card to return after a physical reset of the power supply, and it appears my attempt to reformat the card under the beta firmware failed. However, there are no recordings on the SD card from the days I was using the beta firmware. My NVR still has recordings from this time period, so I wonder if the beta firmware has a problem flushing old recordings to make room for new ones.
I upgraded to the beta version by resetting all settings and I have no tracking problems and the night mode works. However the camera still has trouble tracking a person who passes under the camera even slowly.
Just thought I'd throw this out there, the new firmware seems to be working as advertised.I would still like to have auto tracking while patrolling.I would like to have 4 preset patrol points but have it auto track and stay with any moving targets (person or car) in those zones.
Hello, I had issues with IR (night mode) and auto tracking. Camera detects and tracks quiet OK but then appears to crash and restart.Restart in the dark fails.Testing in a room with light on/off before fix mouting outside. When entering the room camera starts tracking but randomly then crashes.Biggest issue here is that it cannot reboot in the dark.Does often not initialize well. IR blinks shortly after boot complete -> motoric init endless loop.I tested this beta FW but here it always crashes immediatly when entering the dark room.Reverted to RLC_823A_989_22051911.Is this related due to person very close to the camera in the "testing setup after initial purchase"?Thanks
Hi @Reolink-Fiona, have there been any updates on this beta test? I notice that the official version posted for download is from June 2022, which is older than this beta firmware (which itself is already 6 months old).I'm currently running v3.1.0.1169_22091308_v1.0.0.30 in my camera (looks different from your download link here so I don't remember which link I got it from), but there are a few issues (most annoyingly, it keeps losing focus)I realize that you have released newer cameras since then but it feels like those of us who have invested hundreds of dollars in your products are being left with half-functional products that do not live up to the promised features.
