I hope they fixed all the issues with the last 8.14 release. I'm going to wait and see...
-
@reuven-goldenberg_36887769641 Nobody is anxious to upgrade. I am running v8.14.1. Issue is the poor video quality of their player at Clear mode. But why they don't state what has been fixed, improved, added or removed. Just bugs fixed.

Have only seen listed as bug fixes and improvements to user experience. The fear of updating arises from the fact that the versions almost always get worse rather than better. In any case, it would be useful to publish the list of fixed bugs and improvements and changes. You can't play heads or tails every time a new version comes out, then cross your fingers and hope it goes well. I have written many times to make suggestions and propose changes, but I believe that the only thing that interests Reolink is only the business, the rest doesn't matter. Meanwhile, the live preview quality is terrible and to have decent quality you have to change it every time for every camera except those in the same network, and when you have a few cameras this is frustrating and demanding. To say how closed-minded and stubborn they are in Reolink, this is demonstrated by the fact that they do not leave the customer free to decide what type of quality they want rather than imposing it as they do now. I'm like Giuseppe and for the moment I don't want to be a beta tester for the umpteenth time and I'm waiting for someone to try the version and tell us how it goes.

@mamymam2013_465350299701478 v8.14.2 has solved the missing icons bars and has improved the video quality in CLEAR mode. I have upgraded from v8.14.1. I am still testing it and noticed some UI minor issue,
-
@joseph_1979 Hi Joseph and thank you for your reply. But really improved quality or not on clear mode?
-
@mamymam2013_465350299701478 If you are using UID to connect you must go through Reolink servers which will limit your bandwidth and may force fluent stream. I bypassed Reolink servers by switching off UID and using the DDNS service feature in my router to directly connect to the cameras.
-
@joseph_1979 8.14.2 does not fix clear mode for me on my RTX 2060 Super. I reverted to 8.12.1 and the problem goes away.
-
@mrmoorey On my notebook I have seen a slight improvement. But yes it is not as in v8.12.1. They have changed something in their player.
-
@reuven-goldenberg_36887769641 Agreed. In this way one bypasses the P2P Relay servers.

Thank you Joseph.
I did a test and installed the new version on a laptop. And they call this quality improvement? But where? The standard low setting is terrible even on a small laptop screen. I have been a Reolink customer for 2 years and in the beginning Fiona and others intervened and listened to customers' suggestions and complaints. Not now. But how can anyone who tests the program think that those who have multiple cameras spend their time correcting the live quality every time they check another camera if it is not present on the same network? This is pure madness! I don't think that inserting this choice is so problematic because in old posts it was actually written as a correction and the choice with subsequent memorization of the quality type was inserted in more than one version of the Windows client. So why go back? Listen to your customers and stop doing your own thing! I'm tired of writing emails to support and in exchange receiving the usual and useless false promise to report to the developers, which is just a joke. Reolink wake up, listen to customers, thank you! -
@mamymam2013_465350299701478 Oh you are referring to the scenario when viewing the cameras from a network other than that to which the cameras are connected to. Under this scenario they use the service of 3rd party to relay the media between the client and the cameras. To eliminate this you may think to use the DDNS.

Thank you , very much for your reply, but in other version of the windows client was possible choose the quality and then stay on memory of the client when you change camera, and not only if camera stay on the same network. DDNS? A tutorial will be a good idea.

@mamymam2013_465350299701478 They are using the service of Azure/AWS for the P2P Relay server and so they are paying for the bandwidth. Media will be flowing through these servers when connected to the camera from an external network.

I apologize if this is too far off topic. i have not installed this version yet (but will.) i just wanted to know if others have noticed this limitation or is it just me. When running a game (in my case minecraft) and i tab out to open the client because i hear something going on outside, i have noticed the client refuses to playback (or view live) until i fully exit the game in question. This is annoying behavior for me and hope it is resolved in this version(or will be resolved at some point.) i guess i am wanting to know if this is a bug or intentional.

Thanks for the notice. Just for entertainment, I opened the Windows Client and selected "Update".
Such Fun!Reply QuoteShare0- Share this Post

Yeh, Mine errored each time, so manually updated through the client. I think the update rolls out separatly to each region, so dont think far away
it is now live on the reolink download section.

Hi, if I want to go back to the old version, where can I find the old versions for download?

@nomahisssss_477125106348271 You will need to contact Reolink support. I don't understand why they hide the older versions.
-
@reuven-goldenberg_36887769641
It is something we have requested but not actioned.
Check your download folder as a previous version may still be there.

I 'upgraded' to 8.14.2

@tony-sharkey_315623324008588 found an old install file and went back to v7.2.2.33 and everything worked instantly
-
@tony-sharkey_315623324008588 try v.8.8.5, it's better, I downloaded it from the internet few days ago

After updating to version 8.14.2, the client could not connect to any camera on the network. One camera was missing and when attempting to manually add it, the client threw an error stating that the camera already existed. Rolled back to 8.12.

@treycaron_64482223505539 Try to uninstall the old version first and then install the 8.14.2. And then scan for the cameras.
-
@treycaron_64482223505539 same problem here, roll back to older version...
-
The issue I'm having is in:
1) Playback mode, I get audio, but no video (black screen)...
I then have to click on Live View, wait 10 seconds, then click Playback. Usually that fixes the no video issue.
The No video issue happens randomly...
2) If I have the client (Windows Client) running for more than 20 mins, I get a delay in video.. Audio is fine.
Example: I can hear a vehicle drive by,,, the icon on the screen shows a vehicle,, But 5 - 7 seconds later, the video shows the vehicle driving by.Reply QuoteShare0- Share this Post

@bill-doria Try to disable the hw acceleration first and check again. I had this issue on older version and I solved it by installing the Directx Redist. But in my case it happened all the times and for both the live and playback. Which version were you running before the update? And which camera models?
-
@joseph_1979 I think I'll try that. The client will crash on me if I have too many cameras up at once.
-
same problem connecting

I have a few comments/questions about Reolink Client upgrades of late. They have been buggy.
I have over 20 cameras in three locations that I access on several PCs and a Mac. Upgrades used to be a safe operation with improvements in the software. However, I have lost all my camera definitions a couple of times after recent upgrades. On my PCs, I have landed on version 8.14.0 and re-entered the device info for all the cameras, which was quite a pain. I'll be avoiding upgrades for awhile. Version 8.13.0 seems to be working OK on my Mac, so I'll leave that alone.
Is losing camera definitions a known problem that others have experienced? Most of my cameras are remote so I can't use the "find on LAN" feature (which doesn't consistently work anyway).
Is there anyway to export device definitions, save them, and then copy them to a different PC or Mac, or to a newer version of the software if device definitions are lost?

@user_688471996944537_688471996944537 So far there is no way to export and import cams configuration. We have asked Reolink To provide this feature.
Yes, if you are viewing from an external network, the default resolution is FLUENT. So if you set it to CLEAR and go and watch another cam and return back, the resolution will be the default one. This is because the media goes through 3rd party (AWS and Azure) and they pay for bandwidth. This is P2P through a proxy.
Try to use DDNS.
