Our client also has a new look! But that's not all—let's have a look at the changelog:
- Updated the Reolink logo.
- A new decryption tool has been added. As shown in the picture, you can click the tool in the upper right corner to decrypt exported encrypted videos and time-lapse footage. For example, if you exported a video to your computer that you don't want others to see, you can encrypt the exported file first. Then you can use the decryption tool to decrypt the file, and you'll be able to watch it.
- Fixed known bugs.
Head to the download center and try out the new feature: https://reolink.club/DownloadCenter-Com6

@reolink-daisy Hi Daisy, Hope you are doing well.
But why on the website you still have 8.16.8. If client 8.17.6.0 is stable then it should be available on your Download Center. It will be highly appreciated that what is being announced to the customer is really correct. -
@joseph_1979
and you are lucky to see 8.16 for Windows already.
For Mac it's still 8.8.5 ... even with 8.16 actually available.
Would be good if reolink were keeping things up-to-date on this download page (not even mentioning firnwares.... oops I mentioned it) -
@joseph_1979
It is crazy that simple things like this are not being actioned specially when they are trying to promote the quality of Reolink software.
Every update I keep reporting it like most other people. Its just such a simple thing but a bad look! -

For anyone wanting previous versions of a manual link to this PC update -
@big_ted wholly in agreement. This is way far from professionalism.

@seb_526812765704330 I agree. I told them you need to be in synchronicity amongst all platforms. If you introduce a feature...make it available on all clients at the same time. FULLSTOP.
Yes, fw....we saw it once and then nothing. Not even the email subscription for fw upgrade has ever worked...at least to me. If not working then remove it. My sister has TAPO....if there is fw upgrade on any of the cameras she receives a notification on the client. This is fantastic and easily to implement. The playback is by far better. We are telling them where to improve but they don't listen to us. -
@reolink-daisy Reporting an observed software bug with Version 8.17.6
Inspecting the System Status I see the following entriesSystem Status
{sniped text}
(0)0: current dir C:\Program Files\Reolink\Reolink.exe
(0)89: open C:\Program Files\Reolink\MediaDiagnose.log fail Permission denied

My understanding is that it is better to save log files to a location that is not located in the C:\Program Files\ sub directories because this folder tree is typically read only during program execution to minimise the risk of viruses adding their code if the read access is changed to read/write access.
I think most programs use the location C:\ProgramData to store runtime writable files such as log files. -

@robert-hammond_315369854550200 You are absolutely right. Haven't checked this for quite sometime. Indeed such log files cannot be logged in this folder. Oh Gosh........... maybe a novice :). They should store this in C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\reolink\logs as this is per user.

Posted 3 days ago and yet only 8.16.8 appears available.
Further, the link in your post goes to Firmware and not App & Client.
Deliberately trying to confuse people? Why these basic mistakes?
Reolink, do better.Reply QuoteShare0- Share this Post

The Windows Client found and installed it as expected. Thanks.

With v8.17.6 playback is jerky.
Went back to v8.16.8, no issues.
