@curls Which camera? This is possible with Duo 2 camera.
@peter_143887856394451 Duo 2 battery version isn't out yet. You must be using the test unit, right?
@user_595035309715496_595035309715496 What devices are you talking about? iOS, Android, Windows and Mac devices should work fine.
@user_602724781011001_602724781011001 You can use a micro sd card for recording and access it remotely. It supports up to 256GB micro sd card. I like to use sd card because it is cheap to replace and yet very reliable. Also, I don't need to deal with NVR related issues, power consumption, fan noise, etc.
The new iOS 16 is quite impressive and it allows widgets to be displayed on locked screen. It would be really nice for Reolink to implement a widget so user can simply launch the app from locked screen with a single tap.
@user_588567793635436_588567793635436 eBay is probably the worst place to buy a sd card. My first counterfeit sd card came from eBay. Fortunately, the seller refunded my money.
@mahdal_188022650912897 I don't use NVR. I use 256GB Samsung Pro Endurance micro sd card for recording. AI detection works reliably and I don't feel the need for using NVR. I get 7-8 weeks worth of recording before the camera overwrites the oldest video. I use Mac Client primary for viewing live and recorded video footages from home. Use iOS app when I am on the road. Reolink's software is one of the big reasons I chose Reolink cameras over other brands.
@joseph-chircop_497308027822318 With iOS, you can select the notifications that go to watch or disable sound for non critical push like email, etc. I only set sound with push notification for my front door camera mainly for package delivery. But I hear your VOIP suggestion.
"Would a push notification or an email wake you up during the night?Yes, I wear Apple Watch. I get Reolink push notification with sound and vibration on my wrist without carrying my phone.
@joseph-chircop_497308027822318 I am not sure what phone you use. But the iOS push notification sound from Reolink camera is quite unique. iOS also lets you set a critical alert that gets displayed even when the phone is locked. VOIP sounds interesting but I'm not sure I want my phone to ring whenever my camera detects a cat in my porch.
@paulisonthephone_330301696569557 Update check on app doesn't work. Never has been. I think Reolink should remove the check until it gets implemented. As for the 8.8.1, you need to go to download center to see the latest version.
@user_588567793635436_588567793635436 Counterfeit sd cards are very common these days, especially for Sandisk. You can't tell from the retail package. The only way to tell is to run the speed test for both read and write which I do the with a new sd card. Recently, I bought a Sandisk Endurance card from a reputable vendor and the card didn't pass the write test and had to send it back for refund. I have a few Samsung Endurance cards running in my security cameras as well as my Tesla dashcam without issues so far. One security camera will fill up my 128GB Samsung card and overwrite the oldest files as expected. The camera is also set to reboot weekly.
@paulisonthephone_330301696569557 I think you meant to say 3 windows display? One large on top for DUO2 and two in the bottom for other normal cameras? They added 2 large ones recently but 3 windows option is desirable for mixing panoramic view with other cameras.
@josephhmillersr_434585574732026 https://reolink.com/roadmap/. Of course date can change. I'm concerned with the power cable for the WiFi floodlight camera. Most floodlight cameras come with bare wire that simply connects to the existing light fixture and not to the power outlet. What I heard is that the floodlight camera is going to be like other wifi cameras with power adapter that connects to the power outlet. I hope Reolink includes a male piug with bare wire.
@teijo-kantanen_290871736668298 Technology moves fast. Bought Duo 1 camera 6 months ago and now Duo 2 replaced my Duo 1. Fortunately, security cameras aren't as expensive as before. Many years ago, I bought a Canon PTZ camera for $1200 and the camera was only 720P resolution. Now, I am getting a 4K camera with AI detection for less than $200. The security camera has come a long away from the day when very few people could afford one.
@breit2001_513813039153374 Oh, trackmix lets you create more than 1 detection zone? Even newer camera like DUO2 only supports 1 detection zone. May be support for multiple zones coming to other cameras?
@mark_gin_511918536781957 You bringing up a good subject. People who want a rich notification for just 1 or 2 cameras aren't likely going to subscribe the service. And it is costly for Reolink to provide rich notification for people with many cameras (e.g 6, 8, 10). So the compromise could be free rich notification for 1 or 2 cameras and require a subscription for more cameras. This also allows a new reolink user to try out the camera with rich notification. How do people feel about that? I suppose Reolink can do some analysis and decide. Any comments from Reolink?
Hey everyone, here is my review for the DUO 2 PoE camera.Installation:The camera in the pictures is my old DUO 1 camera since I already mounted my DUO 2 camera. But both look the same physically and the mount hardware is identical as well. Installing the camera is straight forward. Just attach the silver metal plate to the wall by screwing the two top holes of the metal plate. Then snap the camera mount arm to the plate and screw the bottom hole to secure the camera. The camera is attached to the mount arm via a ball joint. You can tighten the ball joint with the supplied allen wrench after adjusting the camera angle. I assume many people here are Reolink users so I am not going to bother with the usual Reolink camera setup.Camera appearance:Appearance wise, it doesn’t look like a typical security camera - dome, turret, bullet, etc. It looks more like a small floodlight and perfect for people who care about aesthetic and stealth look.Who should use this camera?I use this camera for my front that requires a wide coverage that a single lens camera can’t accommodate. The camera provides a seamless stitched panoramic view with one video stream. I can literally see the entire block of my street with this camera. Highlighted features:4K resolutionSeamless stitched 180 degree viewSmart AI detection (human, car, pet)IR/SpotlightsSiren2 way audio4K 180° panoramic viewReolink did a good job with stitching the two camera views into a one panoramic view. As you can see from the video, I can’t detect any seam from a jogger or fast moving car. First generation DUO1 camera doesn’t stitch the two views so it is rather gimmick. DUO2 is not only wider than DUO1 (180° vs 150°), the vertical field is also taller (60° vs 44°) which is more important to me as I couldn’t see the front too far with DUO1 when pointing down to cover the area closer to the house including the side gate. DUO2 also provides much sharper image than DUO1 (4K vs 2K) and it makes a difference when performing digital zoom to see the far objects. Another notable feature is that DUO2 uses more advanced H265 codecs compared to DUO1 which uses H264. As a result, it cuts down the storage space despite storing 4K images.Seamless video
I am anxiously waiting for the DUO Floodlight WiFi and have a question.. does the camera come with a power adapter like other WiFi camera that requires power outlet or it come in 3 bare wires that you typically see with floodlight? I hope it comes in bare wires as the reason to get the floodlight camera is to plug into the existing light fixture and avoid the need to use power outlet. Can you confirm?
@julian_481116254322917 As far as I know, there is no new firmware for DUO1. Since you are upgrading to DUO2, this may not matter now. Because DUO2 is much better.. You get seamless 4K stitched image. Not only you get wider view (180 deg) but the vertical view is taller which means you can see the front farther. Despite 4K image, H265 cuts down the storage by half compared to DUO1 with H264. Also, pet detection which is only available on DUO2 is great for tracking dogs that are making mess on my lawn. You will not want DUO1 once you get DUO2. I am not sure what I am going to do with my DUO1 now that I got DUO2.
