@sean-evans_651097387884602 Connecting cameras to the PoE switch is the way to go. Router these days comes with gigabit ports so 8 cameras should be fine. Some switches come with 2 uplink ports but it is unnecessary in your case. You want to avoid connecting the cameras to the NVR as this ads NVR dependency to your cameras. Often, NVR firmware is behind in supporting new camera features. With PoE switch, you are connecting directly to your cameras and have full access to all the features the cameras provide.
@user_643544654475341_643544654475341 PoE switch workaround doesn't work for you? Even if Reolink provides a firmware fix for NVR, it is a good idea use PoE switch in the long run. By adding the NVR dependency to your cameras, you are going to face these sort of issues with future cameras as your old NVR may or may not support all the features from new cameras.
I think RLC-81MA would be fantastic if the camera can perform digital tracking. May be firmware upgrade to provide digital tracking? Argus Track is very interesting mainly due to its size and battery operation but the limitation of tilt angel is a letdown.
@crimp-on_62210811129 Junction box.
"a dual-lens camera like the RLC 81MA, but in a 12 mp version"Perhaps, you misunderstand the dual lens camera feature? The purpose of the second telephoto lens is to provide a zoom image without the need to blow up the wide angle lens image. TrackMix camera, for example, has been proven that the 1080P telephoto lens provides a better zoom image than the blow up 4K wide angle image. I'd prefer to get the 2K resolution of the telephoto lens instead of 12MP wide angle lens.
@vigy_591093180735512 Which camera are you using? Are you not using the AI/smart detection? I've been getting rain almost daily for a week now and my Duo 2 is working fine without issues.
@seaisland215_530551422046397 This might work. Check with Reolink support. I can't post the Amazon web link here so I am posting the picture.
@salamanteri_635967195598951 I am hoping that the future version of TrackMix utilizes 2 lens that provides 180 degree coverage that will eliminate the need for patrol function.
@joseph-chircop_497308027822318 It is obvious that setting the highest resolution, fps and frame rate will give the best video image but the question is about interframe space setting. 1x vs 2x. Which setting will yield the best video?
@binal_604641989533702 The real value for me is software and support. Many camera vendors only support mobile app, not desktop client app for Mac or PC. Mobile app is fine on the go but the experience is no match for viewing on the large screen running the client app. The support for desktop client eliminates the need for finding and running some third party apps (e.g Blue Iris, etc.). The hardware experience can only be as good as the software can provide, imo.
@reolink-fiona Great timing. Just ordered one. Estimated shipping is 1/30/23 but hoping to get sooner.
@andy Check version from client app doesn't work. You need to go to Reolink download site to get the latest version. 8.7.3 is old.
@brobillcal1_602683247891018 Probably not. Notification is a system wide setting and each app can only select one tone. Most apps don't even allow to choose the tone including Reolink app. If you wear Apple Watch like I do, it is less of an issue because the notification pops up on my watch will indicate the name of the camera.
@brandinoa_341775868170492 It is available on mobile app as well. On iOS app, go to Schedule under Camera Recording.
@user_617650665832448_617650665832448 Yes. I believe notifications are separate from "connected".(Although I must confess that long ago I quit having cameras send notifications. hundreds of messages every day is not something I enjoy.)
That's why Reolink needs to support 2 more detection zones. With only one detection zone which ties to everything (record, push, email, schedule, etc), it doesn't provide the flexibility for selectively targeting notification for certain area at certain time.
@brandinoa_341775868170492 Yes, go to record under surveillance to check the setting.
@joseph-chircop_497308027822318 I was under the impression that he is asking about the Duo 2 spotlight, not the standalone floodlight.
@user_633486769692732_633486769692732 I don't think so. Why would you want to light to be on during day time?
@cml_421199928463586 Have you looked into the zoom lens cameras like 811A and 822A?
@al_619525227560965 300Mbs is download speed. What matters is your upload speed from home. My cable download is 900Mbs but upload is only 25Mbs. It works fine on my 5G iphone streaming 4K Reolink cameras.
