Hi Reolinkers,
Today we have the v8.8.0 Beta Client test! Are you ready for it? Let's see who will be the bug hunter!
You can download the Client v.8.8.0 installation package via the link:
Windows: https://bit.ly/3aaO5xE
MAC: https://bit.ly/3IbwKB0What’s New:
1. Added Time-Lapse function on the live view page
Time-lapse function is requested by a lot of users. Now it is finally available! It is convenient to create and download the large time-lapse file on the Client.
2. Added “Hardware decoding first” on the Client settings
There are two decoding methods, including hardware decoding and software decoding in simple terms.
GPU performs hardware decoding. Using GPU decoding can reduce CPU workload and power consumption.
The CPU performs software decoding. It will increase the CPU workload and increase power consumption.
So the hardware decoding button is defaulted on, and we will use the hardware decoding first. But some users may meet the compatibility issue between the GPU and the Client, which causes a black screen. If you meet the problem of a black screen, you can try to disable the “hardware decoding first.” If you encounter the freeze issue, you can also disable this button, but this requires a more powerful CPU to operate.
3. Added “Battery Cameras Power-Saving Mode” on the Client settings
If you enable this mode, the battery camera will automatically disconnect after 5mins without operation. This can save battery power.
Continuous streaming will drain the battery fast. But if you want continuous streaming for a period of time, you can disable the Battery Cameras Power-Saving Mode.
4. Added thumbnail display on the preset point, guard point, and patrol points settings(Available with the next new firmware.)
We add the thumbnail display on the settings to better locate the preset point, guard point and patrol points.
5. Added “Forgot your password?” prompt on the login page
What if I forgot the password? You can click the “Forgot your password” on the login page, and then it will guide you on how to do to reset the password.
6. Added the permissions of the audio alarm and spotlight settings for user accounts
7. New products adaptionImprovements:
1. Optimized user interaction and feature icons on preview and playback.
2. Optimized firmware upgrade strategy to shorten the time spent on the upgrade.
3. The configuration of the auto-tracking type will be saved and restored the next time you enable the auto-tracking under the alarm setting.
4. You can also enter our community via the About page now!Fixed:
1. Fixed the problem of the plus and minus signs for zoom not working in the PTZ window.
2. Fixed other bugs.Reply QuoteShare3- Share this Post

@reolink-fiona great, looking forward to try it, but I don't have my PC with me until next week. Wait for me please!!
-
@reolink-fiona
Fiona, can you please ask development team if when changing to software decoding, does this use a particular view codec or java etc?
looking at why some people still get black screen and thinking something is missing that could be easily updated for these people?

@john_350143387672724 Thank you for the head up. I will point out in the article that the thumbnail of the guard point and preset point will be available with the next new firmware.

Time-Lapse function is restricted to some cameras only ? I don't see it with 8.8.0 and DuoPOE camera
-
8.8.0 is still randomly freezing the live camera views. This is the 3rd update in a row that hasn't fixed the issue.
8.5.2 is the latest version that still works as intended.
This is getting old...Reply QuoteShare1- Share this Post

The freezing isn't happening for me right now but the black screens remain despite changing the Hardware decoding toggles in the settings. -
@lindsay_464625727078605
so hardware decoding is turned off?
Which graphics card are you using?
Could be a setting on the card or a driver issue -

@reolink-fiona This did not work on my PC. Happens on client versions 8.7.1, 8.7.3, and the beta 8.8.0 linked in this thread. intel 12th gen i7-12700T with UHD 700 graphics.
I lied. Unchecking "Hardware Decoding First" did work on client 8.8.0. I just had to restart the client first. It's also good to uncheck the "auto live view" so you can tweak things before it crashes. -
@reolink-fiona
I've tried everything over and over again. When you disable hardware decoding; the freezing happens sooner.
It's very random, about 4-5 times a day I have to restart the client.
The program doesn't seem to be locked up as I can make settings changes when the live feed video is frozen and those changes are reflected on the next time the program is opened.
Nothing I can do within the frozen client will restart any video feeds, I have to close the application and re-open it for it work. 8.5.2 is the latest client that works without freezing at all.
I have several RLC-822A's, RLC-811A's and Duo's, all on POE but a separate Cisco switch handles the POE specifically. The reolink NVR handles only the recordings etc.

-
@geschinsky_376216486543563 The timelapse function only works with the standalone camera now. It doesn't available for the NVR.

Nice! I'm Jane. I personally really appreciate your article. This is a great website. I will make sure that I stop back again. These are some really great tips!

Deleting a completed time lapse video on the Window Client:
On the Time Lapse window, the deletion of a completed video will remove it from the window, but it does not delete it off the SD card. If you close the Time Lapse window and reopen it again the video shows up and is still there.
Is there a way to delete a time lapse video off the SD card.Reply QuoteShare0- Share this Post

@john_350143387672724 What's your camera model and firmware version? Usually, it will delete the recording on the SD card if you delete the time-lapse on the Client.
Does it always happen? -
@reolink-fiona
I've tried three different cameras and none of them will delete the time lapse video from the SD card. It happens every time. I'm using the latest Windows 10 version. The three cameras that I tried are my RLC-823a, RLC-810a and Argus PT 2k cameras.
Cameras & Firmware:
RLC-810A - v3.1.0.956_22041503
RLC-823A - v3.1.0.956_22041511_v1.0.0.30
Argus PT - v3.0.0.875_22030800

Gibt es hier auch Antworten auf die gestellten Fragen?

So far so good, I approve...
PS... One question, I guess we don't get time laspe if we have a NVR? Is that why I never see the feature?Reply QuoteShare0- Share this Post

@chuck_529633235447953 Currently, the time-lapse function only works with the standalone camera. It doesn't work with the NVR now.

Installing v8.8 has resolved my black screen issue. Time lapse not being displayed though. Maybe the model, RLN8-410

@stuart_504105997676756 The NVR doesn't support the time-lapse function now. I have told this to the product team and they said that they need to evaluate this request.
-
Timelapse download constantly crashes, then i need to press retry, after that the connection drops and i have to wait until it connects again.
This also happens in the android app.
The connection is not the problem, i can stream in HQ without issues for a long time, only downloading time lapse is an issue.
Any ideas?Reply QuoteShare1- Share this Post

@reolink-fiona na versão anterior funcionava bem. Mas acho que já resolvi o problema. Fiz uma actualização de windows e agora já não bloqueia. Vou dando novidades

@Reolink-Fiona downloaded client 8.8.0 and in my e1 zoom I have loaded firmware 3.0.0.1107, let´s see how it goes.
-
@Reolink-Fiona testing client 8.8.0, one improvement could be hiding the buttons of zoom, snap, record, etc. if the mouse don´t move for example in 3 seconds. Other improvement could be setting the image quality from the general settings. I am testing all and I have no problems yet.

@alvaro2 Thank you for your feedback. For the image quality setting, we only design it for the specific camera. So it is not in the general settings. The general settings are applied to all the cameras.

I've been downloading many videos daily, mainly without problems. But, I've had four or five occasions where the beta client freezes during the download. When it freezes, the progress bar shows usually shows the download at around 50% completed. The odd thing is that the client has completely finished downloading the video and it is fully viewable. Its just that the client will not start downloading the next video. Its as if during the download that Windows and the client have lost contact with each other.
I always need to close the client and start downloading all over. -
I noticed that it mentions time-lapse functionality does NOT apply if you use an NVR. That blows.

@bbugaski_390328908112013 Now the timelapse function is not available with the NVR now. The request to add the timelapse function to the NVR has been forwarded to our product team for evaluation.
-
@reolink-fiona Nice! Now they just need to find a way to accurately have the Windows client actually inform you that there are updates! Often times the client says it is on the latest version when there is an even later version available from the Reolink website.

@Reolink-Fiona
I just installed the 8.8.0 beta to download the time lapse recording from the SD card.
Unfortunately, it does not work with it either.
It comes the error / note: Loading failed.
In the Android app, the recording is displayed with 12 GB, but the download also fails.
My Cam is a Argus 3 Pro with Firmware 3.0.0.819_22012700
How can I save the time-lapse recording. I would like to be able to view them.
Are there any other tools I can use to download the recording from the SD card?Reply QuoteShare0- Share this Post

Did you try turning off hardware decoding? -
@cdrabke_524843821973719 Hi there, please try to send your system info to the support team to upgrade your camera and try again. Submit the info here, Submit a request – Reolink Support.

Even this latest version has not resolved the inability to access the Detection Alarm settings for the RLC810A.
If the camera (810A) has the latest firmware it will not show any information. However if one of the RLC810A cameras is of an older firmware it will show and you can adjust the settings as required (mask). "Loading Failed" is all that shows with the latest firmware on a camera (see image).Reply QuoteShare0- Share this Post

I agree, I had the same problem with my 810 Camera because my NVR's firmware was out of date. For some reason it had not auto-updated even though the setting was enabled. Once I manually updated the NVR firmware I no longer had this problem.

Crop-zoom only uses low quality video even if viewing mode is set to clear/high resolution
If I zoom with the mouse wheel the video is zoomed in clear/high resolution. - 29 days later

Hello
I just install this version, and it's better for me.
I have 15 cameras and now all the channels are near to be fluid on my I5 Laptop under Windows 10.
And my desktop respond better. Before all the system was slowed.
At this time CPU is used at 22% and the GPU 23% too
Good job !
