Ring is now doing this with their battery operated, PIR spotlight cam. Check out LifeHakster's YouTube video on this. It didn't used to be this way, but they did add it, so I would think Reolink could do the same. Not having this and person detection makes it tough when not installed in a perfect scenario per Reolink's documentation. In a lab, it's easy to setup optimally...not so much in the real-world.
I would suggest a feature that allows the camera to be activated to send notifications and record when someone is away from the home. This feature would then be turned off when someone returns home turning the camera motion notifications off and recording off for privacy. This would apply to all or selected cameras.
I have an Argus PT. I really like it. I thought about buying the RLC 423. It was released over three years ago. I don't think it has a built in mic and is just 4x zoom. 4x zoom isn't a lot. I hope the next Reolink PTZ will have built in mic and at least 10x optical zoom. That would be cool.
When I unbox a new Reolink camera, the first thing I do is open my Contacts file and add the camera information. One line for each camera, including the model number, UID code, and the IP address that I assigned to it. (OCD - every camera has a designated IP address on my WiFi network.) I have added cameras to my Reolink app from 3,000 miles away when I left my tablet in an UBER and had to buy another one.
